The domain name system (DNS) provides a map to and computer systems in a network based on its name and IP address. Reliable, robust and secure operation of the hierarchy – from the root servers, country code Top Level Domain Name (ccTLD) name servers and up to an individual domain name server- is critical to all internet operation. DNSSEC was designed to deal with cache poisoning and a set of other DNS vulnerabilities such as “man in the middle” attacks and data modification in authoritative servers. Its major objective is to provide the ability to validate the authoritative and integrity of DNS messages in such a way that tampering with the DNS information anywhere in the DNS system can be detected
This is the kind of protection that DNS desperately needs. This validation provided by DNSSEC is useful and essential, especially for important transactions such as e-government & e-commerce. Due to that reason, Cyber Security Malaysia in collaboration with DNSVault will be organizing a 2-days training for individual that would like to learn. Participants will be given DNSSEC overview, the implications, deployment check and challenges. Trainer will also introduce the tools used for DNSSEC followed by a hands-on-training during the DNSSEC lab session, where participants can learn the latest troubleshooting techniques with a trainer’s guidance.
